Grades 4 to 6 were playing tennis for their schools yesterday at Tennis Centre West Ottawa. The children took part in the tennis matches after taking courses that were offered by the Tennis Centre and made possible by a $10,000 provincial grant. Above, Geoff Pearce, director of Tennis Centre West Ottawa, is seen with pupils from Bayshore Catholic School. The tennis players, who learned about things such as sportsmanship as well as tennis, are, from left, Jade Scatliffe, 9, Natasha Raymond, 11, Mark Huerto, 9, Elias Boyce, 9 (behind Pearce), Keegan Schroeder, 11, Mikeal Payant, 11, Jordan Warden, 10 and Max Clarke, 11.

Over 1700 kids from 15 elementary schools learned how to play 'Tennis in the Gym' in January and February. 
The top 150 kids then competed for trophies in the first ever Ottawa School Team Tennis Championships
